Mission & History

Our Mission

The mission of Montessori Children’s House of Valley Forge is to cultivate the innate love of learning and respect that young children have for themselves, their peers, and their environment in order to help them prepare for a life of integrity, academic accomplishment and purpose.

Our History

MCHVF was established in 1963 by a group of dedicated parents who sought a Montessori education for their children and could not find a school within their community. The very first classroom was located in a locker room of a swim club. In spite of benches bolted to the floor and metal cubbies along the walls, the children thrived and flourished.

Over the years the school has resided in various spaces in Blue Bell, Wayne and Phoenixville. After years of searching for a permanent home, the school moved in February 2010 into its current location in the beautifully restored Ivy Hollow Farm within the boundaries of Valley Forge National Historical Park. Our move into this beautiful facility was the dream and accomplishment of staff and alumni parents who dedicated four years to bring the vision to reality.

Our renovated farmhouse and barn on 3.5 acres within the park is an idyllic setting for a Montessori school. We are so fortunate to be the first private school in a National Park in the country.
