My time at MCHVF was filled with so much fun and joy. I was quite imaginative at a young age, often getting lost in my thoughts and the stories I would come up with in my head. The environment and learning methods at MCHVF fostered my imaginative side, and further set the foundation for the creative thinker I am today. Since high school, performing and writing comedy has been a big part of my life, and I can trace my sense of humor and creative side back to the imagination I was allowed to explore at MCHVF. Some of my strongest memories from MCHVF are being silly with friends at lunch (we would make each other laugh by saying “yummy in my tummy” in funny voices) and playing pretend outside. I remember coming up with elaborate plots for my friends and I to act out on the playground and getting lost in our fantasy world.
MCHVF gave us plenty of opportunities to express ourselves – I especially loved show and tell because it encouraged me to speak in front of others and share. It also taught me how to give my undivided attention to my classmates and step into their world. I currently live in New York City, where I spend most of my time outside of work writing and performing with my sketch comedy group, taking improv classes, and attending various comedy shows. During the week I work at an advertising agency as an associate manager, working closely with clients to execute their digital strategies. Whether it be presenting to clients in a meeting or making audiences laugh, I can attribute a lot of who I am today to the supportive environment at MCHVF.
